Bignon Priscille Bijou (Priscille), Benin

I am DOSSOU Bignon Priscille Bijou, bioengineer of food processes and founder of HOUEFA GREEN ENERGY, my goal is to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs 1, 5, 7 and 13 by reducing deforestation and greenhouse gases while creating jobs for women. I also work in the areas of education and especially the empowerment of girls and women through ROAJELF BENIN. Very social and active, I am a YALI alumni since 2018. I am an alumnus of the 2020 summer school on the water-energy-food nexus organized in Germany and Young Innovation Leaders (YIL) Fellowship organized in Nigeria.

In order to preserve the health, to fight against deforestation and fossil gas, our solution is to help people specially women increase their access to renewable energy by providing them affordable smart mobile digesters made of local materials. These digesters can convert organic waste into biogas for cooking and lighting and also provide organic fertilizers. Our digesters are smart because of electronic components that indicate the level of charged wastes and produced biogas.
