John Deng, South Sudan

John G. Deng was born and raised in Majak Ghoi village, Aweil- South Sudan. He began his school under the tree without teaching aid whereby volunteer teachers used charcoal as chalk until 2002 when peace negotiation started between the Sudan government and the Sudan people’s liberation movement (SPLM). In 2010, Garang moved to Wau where he completed his secondary school education at John Paul ii Catholic Secondary School. Holds a bachelor of science in Electrical engineering, Postgraduate certificate in Financial Engineering and Risk management and Geothermal energy master candidate at DKUT. Garang is the Executive director of Mawoudit Foundation.

Keeping the Environment Safe and Increasting Literacy Rate through Solar Energy in South Sudan (KSEIL-RaSS: This Project will address lack of electricity (SDG 7) and also contribute to quality education (SDG 4) as well as reduce the unemployment rate (SDG 1) in South Sudan. Our target beneficiaries are students from 12 - 23 years old who are primary leaving certificate and secondary education candidates and vulnerable people from 60-80 years old.
