I am a Behavioral Researcher with the Center for Advanced Hindsight, where I strive to use human-centered design, behavioral science, and field experiments to facilitate sustainability. My project focuses on testing methods that governments can motivate individuals to use more sustainable transit options such as carpooling, public transportation, walking, and cycling more frequently in Los Angeles. The primary aim is to reduce drive-alone behavior and traffic. This was developed to focus on improving the sustainability of commuting due to high traffic congestion and CO2 emissions. I hope to understand why commuters generally choose to travel alone, incentivize these commutes, and remove the friction associated with more sustainable alternatives. By exploring this, my team hopes to develop innovative solutions that will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal of building more sustainable cities and communities.
